Our Yellowstone Experience - Our Magical First Season in the Park
Have you ever thought of living and working in Yellowstone? We did!

Spending a season living and working in Yellowstone National Park was nothing short of magical. Rich and I embarked on this adventure with excitement, but we never could have imagined just how deeply the experience would impact us. From the breathtaking landscapes to the incredible people we met, every day brought something new to appreciate.

The Beauty of Yellowstone
Waking up every morning in the heart of Yellowstone felt like stepping into a postcard. Towering mountains, steaming geysers, crystal-clear rivers, and sprawling meadows became our everyday backdrop. The changing colors of the sky at sunrise and sunset painted the park in hues we had never seen before. Wildlife was abundant, from bears walking around the campground to bison causing 'bison jams' on the road. Every hike, drive and quiet moment outside reminded us just how special this place is.

The Wonderful People We Met
One of the most unexpected joys of our time in Yellowstone was the incredible people we met. Fellow seasonal workers came from all walks of life—students from Taiwan, college students on summer break, retirees seeking adventure and seasoned travelers looking for their next great experience. The friendships we formed were fast but deep, built on shared experiences, long shifts and dinner conversations. We met visitors from around the world, each with their own stories and excitement about seeing Yellowstone. Their joy became contagious, reminding us daily why this park is so cherished.

Finding Community at Tower Fall Store
While Yellowstone itself was breathtaking, it was our time working at Tower Fall store that truly made us feel at home. The store, nestled near the stunning Tower Fall waterfall, became more than just a workplace—it became a community. Our coworkers felt like family, and we all supported each other through the challenges of the job, from managing long lines of eager visitors to restocking shelves at a fast pace. The camaraderie was unmatched, and we quickly developed a sense of belonging. The store was a place where people gathered, shared stories and connected over their love of nature and adventure.
Beyond work, our community continued to grow in the employee dining room, where we shared meals, laughed over stories from the day and bonded over our shared experiences. Evenings often found us in the recreation room, unwinding with board games, mahjong tournaments and the occasional movie night. These moments of togetherness made our time in Yellowstone even more special, reinforcing the friendships that would last long beyond the season.

A Season to Remember
Leaving Yellowstone was bittersweet. We took with us countless memories, new friendships, and a deep appreciation for the park’s beauty and history. Living and working there gave us a new perspective on community, adventure and the importance of preserving such incredible places. Though our season in Yellowstone has ended, the experience will always be a part of us. And who knows? Maybe one day, we’ll return for another summer in the heart of the wild.
