Simplify the Journey: Our Favorite Finds for Life on the Road

Hey there, fellow adventurers – Zoe’ here, co-founder of Adventure Wisdom Hub! Many of you know Rich and me through our work with Defiance Tools, where we create gear for curious explorers and outdoor lovers. But what you might not know is that we don’t just sell products made for the road – we actually live that life, too.

In 2023, we hit the road for 22 different events across the country, traveling in our camper van and hauling an overlanding trailer packed with gear. In 2024 we attended 16 events and also lived and worked in Yellowstone. That means for the last 2 years we have spent nearly five months living in a tiny space on wheels – working, cooking, sleeping, and navigating real-life adventures.

When you live in a small space like a van or rv, you quickly discover that every inch counts – and the right tools can completely change your experience. That’s why we decided to start a new series sharing our absolute favorite finds for life on the road. We’re kicking things off with three items that have made our travel life way more enjoyable, functional, and fun. Let’s dive in!

Movie and tv nights in the van just got a whole lot better thanks to The Original Hotpop Microwave Popcorn Popper. This ingenious gadget lets us enjoy a classic movie snack without the mess and waste of traditional microwave popcorn bags. Its collapsible design saves space, and the silicone material is easy to clean – a movie lover's dream come true. Our favorite way to eat it is with a little spray of olive oil and some flavored salt. (our current favorite is the Florida Pure Butter Flavored Sea Salt or the Maple Bacon Sea Salt.)
